IDS4ALL Converter

This IDS converter, developed by Simon Fischer, Harald Urban, Konstantin Höbart and Christian Schranz from the Digital Construction Process research department at TU Wien(https://www.tuwien.at/cee/ibb/zdb), converts information requirements from an Excel file into an IDS file. In practice, information requirements are often defined in tabular form in Excel. This tool should help to easily transfer these into IDS and use the full functionality of IDS.

You can use the Download Template button to download a template including instructions. The Download Example button provides an extended version of the information requirements for the use case openBIM approval procedure of the City of Vienna.

New paper on the generation of Information Delivery Specifications (IDS) published

Simon Fischer, Harald Urban, Christian Schranz and Gerhard Zucker published a paper on the generation of information delivery specifications from conventional tabular information requirements in the scientific journal “Buildings”.

Information Delivery Specification (IDS) is establishing itself as the standard for alphanumeric information. In practice, information requirements are often defined in tabular form in Excel. This tool is designed to help you easily convert these into IDS while utilizing the full functionality of IDS. This tool uses an Excel structure that is very similar to the existing structures for information requirements in order to easily adapt them to the IDS functionality.

This tool is for anyone who wants to create IDS files.

Simply transfer existing information requirements to the new structure with just a few adjustments, upload and receive IDS files in just a few seconds. An explanation of the required structure is included in the template provided. Alternatively, when creating new information requests, the template provided can be used directly as a starting point.
