Chapter 6 – Model-specific specifications

Instructions

The chapters of the model-specific specifications serve to ensure a uniform understanding of the expected data structure of the specialist models, the fulfillment of the client’s information requirements, compliance with the georeferenced location and the naming of the most important BIM-based documents.

The model-specific specifications can be regarded as part of the Asset Information Requirement (AIR for short, in accordance with ISO 19650-1:2019), as the operation specifies the most (and strictest) requirements in terms of data structure, location and naming. They should be adhered to from the start of the project, as subsequent adaptations are difficult to implement or require considerable effort. They are divided into

  • Data structure
    • General specifications according to ISO 16739-1 for the IFC data structure.
  • LOIN
    • Use of the LOIN (ISO 7817-1),
  • Project coordinates and zero point
    • Specifications for the correct georeferenced location of the project.
  • Unique designations
    • With regard to models, higher-level model content, point clouds, test reports and documentation.
