The aim of the publication “Level of Information Need – Basics” is to familiarize users with the method for defining the level of information need, the models and their geometry, alphanumerics and further documentation. A common understanding is needed to ensure that project participants can understand and use information in all phases. The prerequisite for this must be created at the beginning so that those involved can define the need for information (as much as necessary versus as much as possible).
The aim is to set out as simply and clearly as possible how and what information is to be requested and provided between the various parties involved at certain times. To this end, the parties involved define who is the supplier (sender) and who is the user (recipient) of the information and for what purpose this information is provided and used.
