Chapter 6.2 – Secure data transfer in openBIM environments

Within openBIM environments, where different software solutions and platforms are used, it is crucial that data transfers are encrypted and secured. The use of technologies such as blockchain could provide additional anti-counterfeiting protection in this area by ensuring the integrity and traceability of data along the entire supply chain. In addition, all parties accessing the DPP data should be trained in the relevant security protocols to minimize potential security gaps. Furthermore, the open architecture of this model allows it to be flexibly adapted to a wide variety of business cases and to avoid vendor lock-ins when collaborating along the value chain.
