Classification systems such as ETIM, OmniClass, eCl@ss, etc. play a decisive role in the construction and real estate industry. They clearly describe and classify products and services. Standardization promotes the interoperability and machine interpretability of data. As a result, product data can be efficiently exchanged between stakeholders such as manufacturers, dealers and customers and transparent, consistent and high-quality product information can be provided. This in turn supports well-founded decisions when selecting suitable products or services.
buildup, CRB and HG Commerciale (HGC) have produced a white paper on master data maintenance for construction products41. This shows the current state of the art in the processing of large volumes of product information and provides manufacturers with corresponding recommendations.
