The Product Data Template (PDT) is basically the empty digital form for a product data sheet. Ideally, it is made up of machine-readable properties from Product Data Dictionaries of the bSDD. Additional context information, such as the respective test standard or the relationship to other properties, can be stored once in the bSDD without having to be integrated in every template. What goes into the template is up to you. Distributors of construction products are obliged by law to provide essential characteristics as performance information for their products in the form of a DoP (Declaration of Performance). There is also other essential information that is often required by planners. Manufacturers are also required to declare performance characteristics that are aimed at innovative solutions.
A Product Data Sheet (PDS) is an instantiated Product Data Template (PDT) that contains the specific information of a product. A PDS can be used for digital data exchange between the various stakeholders in a construction project, e.g. for integration into a BIM model.
