With the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED)26, the EU aims to help reduce energy consumption. The aim is to reduce dependence on energy imports and scarce energy resources. The EED lays down rules and obligations for achieving energy efficiency targets. It defines harmonized rules for the marketing of construction products in the EU and provides a common technical language for assessing the performance of construction products. The EED was first adopted in 2012 and is currently being updated.
